It's time we took His advice

I WOULD risk violence a thousand times rather than risk the emasculation of a whole race. [The Mind of Mahatma Gandhi]

Would you support a war?

Is there going to be a choice? We are headed one way in a straight line.

Though I admire and respect Bapu , I look up to Ram , Krishna , Vivekanada and Chanakya , the other heroes of India for guidance . And war IS the last resort , if no other way is the left . That is a part of our "dharma" . I wonder why people forget that .

Yes. I agree that war against terrorism is a WAR afterall. And we should fight it the same way they are fighting it against us.

The question is Would you support a war?

I think we we can afford it, yes. But we can't afford to feed millions of mouth at home so there is no point talking about a war where we'll roll back our progress 20 years back.

My creed of nonviolence is an extremely active force. It has no room for cowardice or even weakness. There is hope for a violent man to be some day non-violent, but there is none for a coward. I have, therefore, said more than once....that, if we do not know how to defend ourselves, our women and our places of worship by the force of suffering, i.e., nonviolence, we must, if we are men, be at least able to defend all these by fighting. (YI, 16-6-1927, p196)

Is any one listening ????

Would you support a war?

I WOULD, but only once we have exhausted all other options. Our diplomatic options are working.. Pakistan is slowly but surely getting isolated diplomatically. We need to tighten the economic, technological, and cultural screws too.

We need the Pakistani state so that they can help put the terrorism genie back in to the bottle. It would not be in our interest to take on the terrorism genie directly ourselves... it is ideology based and war cannot smother it in the part of the world where it is festering....history tells us that. Nuclear weapons, utter breakdown of law in FATA and Swat regions are bad signs for us too. I believe the time has not yet come to go to war.

Neither India nor Pakistan can afford a war right now. It would take us several years back.

I would support a war if India were Israel, and Pakistan a defenseless Palestine.

Unfortunately we are not, and war is going to be disastrous for both sides.

Interestingly i read this article today which mentioned how the Indian army gave a thumbs down to an all out war saying that it was ill-prepared to fight a war.
