And Now He's Gone

He came.

He saw.

He conquered.

He came back again.

He saw it all again.

He conquered it all again.

And now He's gone.

And there will be no coming back.

Be well, do good, keep in touch.

Fine farewell to India's greatest captain and second greatest player.

It is only in India that you drop and then force such a great player in fine form to quit. Saurav may have left the field. But he's not done yet.

The "second greatest" tag is with reference to the present team, not all-time. But as a captain, it is all-time.

I believe it was very wise of him to quit at this time. He wasn't treated too well by everyone involved. Commentators, the media, even some players in the team.

He left on his own terms and that makes me more proud of him than anything else.

He was one of the best things to happen to Indian cricket. And second greatest, he is.

The IPL will make sure we still see a little bit of him.

Thanks.

Yes. I am a fan. But even if I was just a follower of Indian cricket, I would bow down to his exploits.

@abha
So true. He did. The wisest thing was to retire now, with his head held high.

Good job, trailblazer! That's a fitting farewell to a great cricketer. I'm really going to miss his graceful shots through the off-side. Stunning, they used to be.

Well, in so few sentences you have managed to acknowledge the great contribution of a great cricketer to Indian Cricket. He is not only an inspiration for Cricketers but the entire sporting fraternity as a whole.
